The Mobius Vest

The Mobius Vest is done! And it is lovely.  I am so glad I am in the midst of the garter stitch portion of the book right now. It is so relaxing and comforting. If you know anyone that is spending a fortune on massage therapy — just tell them to knit garter stitch. It will do wonders for them!

One of the things I did to make the Mobius Vest fit my style was knit it in an Aplaca/Wool blend – Berroco’s lovely Ultra Alpaca to be specific and I used larger than usual needles – #9. This caused the resulting fabric to be drapy and flowy rather than stiff. Love the results! It is so chic, don’t you think?

I love how the “shawl” collar just becomes the “sleeve” which then becomes a very straight and simple back. Absolutely breathtaking. Another marvelous piece by Elizabeth Z! I am in awe of her short rows down the front – now how did she think of that. Must remember that for future use….

  1. It’s beautiful. I think part of the challenge of what you’re doing is updating and modernizing the pieces. I have the worst time with that, but you’ve done a lovely job taking something I otherwise would not have cared for and made a lovely piece of it.

  2. that is lovely! Do you have a shot of the back to see the turn over the shoulder?

  3. This is beautiful! Your styling with the beaded necklace looks great.

  4. Gorgeous! I really do love the drape of it.

  5. Lovely sweater/vest. I have the yarn and the gauge. But (and its a big but) I read the directions and have no idea what she is talking about. Do you have any guidelines?

  6. I’ve just discovered your blog and am so happy I have. I am spending the year with Elizabeth. That is all my knitting in 2010 is done either with EZ’s methods or is one of her patterns. Just now I am working on the 50th anniversary cardi. Your drapey Mobius vest is wonderful I have never wanted to knit one based on the picture in the book. But you have me wondering if it should be on my list.

  7. Did you do as 2 pieces or did you do the single cast on w/ split for the front? Applied or built-in i-cord? Can’t wrap head around the built in…

    Gorgeous!

  8. OH!!! It’s so beautiful. I’ve loved your version.

  9. I met a woman on the train that told me about this vest. I do machine knitting but would love this for a lap project. Can I get the pattern online? I am leaving on vacation on Thursday and would love to take this project with me.
